Climate: Year-round temperatures range from 70°F to 90°F. The peak tourist season is from December to April. The best time to avoid the crowds is during the off season from May to November; however, this coincides with the island's rainy season.
U.S. Customs: There are no passports or visas required for U.S. citizens, which means that U.S. citizens travel freely throughout the island. For additional information, contact your local U.S. embassy. or call the Puerto Rico State Department at (787) 722-2121.
Currency: The U.S. dollar is the standard currency. If you need to convert foreign currency, there are a number of international banks that provide such service.
Roads: Puerto Rico has three main toll roads. Toll roads are part of the Tourists Roads system, labeled by small brown signs. Toll fees for a 2-axle car range from $0.70 to $1.50. The lanes on the left are reserved for people with transponder toll passes, which you probably won't have on your rental car. If you need change, head for the lanes marked with a "C"; they are usually the furthest to the right.
